Can I really install the Glacier D-3 under my kitchen sink?
Yes! The Glacier D-3 was specifically designed to be installed directly under the kitchen sink. While this distiller can go virtually anywhere, no other distiller available today can do this!

What happens to the heat?
Glacier distillers, through its patented process, send the heat either down the drain or into the boiler at a preheated temperature, saving you energy dollars! A typical installation is similar to the time it takes to install an under-counter filtration system.

How much water does the Glacier D-3 actually make?
The Glacier D-3 makes up to 10 gallons of distilled water per day.
The storage container holds 5 gallons.

How much electricity does the Glacier D-3 use and how noisy is it compared to other distillers?
Since the D-3 distiller is water-cooled they do not rely on a fan to blow room temperature air on the condensing coils. This usually results in a 50% savings for the Glacier distillers. Since the Glacier distiller does not add any heat into your environment, there is no additional air-conditioning necessity, also saving you money!

The Glacier D-3 is a water-cooled distiller. How is that different from an air-cooled distiller?
The Glacier distiller uses a unique and patented water cooling process to condense steam into purified drinking water. This process eliminates the heat that is normally associated with steam distillation. Air-cooled distillers use electricity (a blower fan) as its main component for condensing. These units typically will use up to 40% more in electrical costs vs. Glacier units.

How far will the D-3 pump water?
The pump we use is the most dependable pump on the market. It produces 60 p.s.i., and will pump .7 gallons of water per minute. In some cases water has been pumped 250 ft. However, since the Glacier distiller can be installed anywhere, there is hardly ever a need to pump your distilled water over great distances.

What is your return policy?
All returns must be pre-authorized. All returns must be in original unopened packing. All returns are subject to 15% re-stocking fee.

What is the warranty on the unit?
Two years on parts, and life on all stainless steel parts.
Glacier Warranty - Proof of Purchase Required.

Is the D-3 U.L. approved?
Yes!

Does the unit come with a post carbon filter?
The Glacier D-3 comes with a 10" in-line carbon filter, along with a faucet, tubing and pumps -- everything you need to install and operate, right out of the box!

Are there any filters to change?
The only filter to change is the post carbon in-line filter. We suggest that you change this filter once a year. Glacier distillers are auto-draining, which means that each time you make distilled water and fill the storage tank back to the five- gallon level, the boiler is backwashed and drained. This takes any sediment, scale and impurities that were removed from the incoming water and flushes them down the drain.

What does "auto-drain" mean to me?

Does the D-3 need incoming water to be preconditioned?
Unless your water is extremely harsh, the answer is no. Glacier distillers have handled more than 10 grains of hardness with no trouble. Remember that the D-3 performs an auto-drain cycle each time the storage tank is filled.

Can I drink the water while the distiller is making new water and, if so, how hot will it be?
Yes! Since the D-3 uses tap water in the process of condensation, in most cases the water you use will be at about tap temperature.

Does your distiller strip all the minerals out of the water?
Distilled water is the purest form of drinking water. It is water the way nature intended it to be, H2O. The process will remove all the impurities from your drinking water. Remember that most of your "minerals" are inorganic materials and that your body is an organic being. This simply means that your body cannot ingest, and assimilate, inorganic material. Rather, it tries to reject them, as with kidney stones, hardening of the arteries, and calcium deposits in joints.

Does distilled water leach minerals from our bodies?
No, quite the opposite. If inorganic minerals (and other substances like chlorine, heavy metals, bacteria, etc.) are removed from tap water, by converting it into pure distilled water, the result is improved absorption of all nutrients, including minerals, and improved elimination of wastes at the cellular level.

If all the minerals are taken out of water where do I get my vitamins?
A well-balanced diet, and food supplements, along with distilled water will be more than sufficient.

How does your unit address the Hetero-trophic Bacteria Problem that exists in purification products on the market?
By introducing steam into the storage tank, which is also its condensation chamber, the D-3 re-sterilizes the storage tank each time you make water!

Can the icemaker be hooked up to distilled water?
Absolutely! All it takes is an inline 3/8"x3/8"x1/4" tee. Ice made with distilled water is clearer and tastes better. The beverages you put your ice cubes into will taste that much better as well.

What is the maintenance required?
We suggest that you change the filter, and de-scale the boiler, once a year. Of course, if your water is extremely harsh, a simple cleaning can be done more than once a year.

Is reverse osmosis the same as distilled?
No! R/O water starts off as good quality water but, over time and usage, the filters and membranes are depleted, lowering the quality of your water. Distilled water always maintains the absolute highest quality of water, at all times.
